  • create a transparent surface that doesn`t let (sun)light though

How can I create a surface that is completely transparentbut doesn't let any (sun)light go though

Does anyone know how to do this

    Huh?

That's like going for a swim without getting wet ... ;D

Transparency actually means letting light through doesn't it?

I believe it does...if one wouldn't want a material to let light through, the I would describe that material as being opaque...

Maybe a little better description of what your after...reference photos (whether real or cg) are always good.

seems that the mystery goes deeper :

I really don't understand what you're willing to do..

Do you have any sketches, samples, words to describe your request ?

            Sorry...I thought I posted, but I guess I didn't

What you would like is to have an object affect the scene (in this case block light), yet be invisible to the camera (ie doesn't actually show up in the rendering).
This is something that isn't currently possible, yet has been requested before. I think Joe has been looking into this, but I'm not sure what state its in. Either way, this is a more significant feature to add, so chances are that it will be something that will make it into our next full release at best.

If I may ask, what exactly are you trying to recreate? Depending in the situation you might be able to find a solution.

Looks good....but just out of curiousity: what would you use it for?

                  hi, biebel

                  let me see.
he, 112, wants something like that.

                  by the way,
i was in trouble rendering a glass just like that.
a couple a weeks ago, i got very good rendering system and its free.
                  what a wonderful.

at that time i was proposed to design a new restaurant, of course, ended that project.
rendering with that program, it looked good but slow.
i found very curious effect, that was what just 112 explained.

so i remember it out of my memory, rebuild in VfSU.

                  thats all. thanks biebel.

and is it just what you want?...let me know, 112!

I think not only for ghost-glass and for ... photomatch shadow-caster ) like trees, people too

If you use a Skp2sided material it should work. Just put your regular material on the inside and a transparent material on the outside. That should get you what you want.

                              Hi Guy's

I've foolishly spent half the night loading in various settings in accordance with earlier posts on this thread, but yet, I still fail to get the desired results.
Howardhong, judging by your image you seem to have 'cracked it' but for me your settings are just not working.

Any chance of some enlightenment? Is there a set of definitive settings?

As suggested earlier I think this technique could provide useful visualisation of an interior space as seen from above.

                              cheers
